The Social Harmony and Vigilance Commission, an official entity of the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC), is committed to fostering peace and unity in society. It remains vigilant against misinformation propagated by anti-social and anti-ecclesial movements. Led by Chairman Rev. Dr. Yoohanon Mar Theodosius, and Vice-Chairmen Rt. Rev. Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil and, Rt. Rev. Dr. Ambrose Puthenveettil along with Secretary Rev. Fr. Dr. Michael Pulickal CMI, the commission executes its responsibilities efficiently. The office of the Commission for Social Harmony and Vigilance is located at Pastoral Orientation Centre (POC), Palarivattom, Kochi.

The Three Level Activities of the KCBC Vigilance Commission

  1. Policy Formulation:  The commission prepares study reports on various social, communal, cultural, political and intellectual issues which help KCBC in policy formulation. Through close examination of contemporary issues, it assists various commissions and organizations of KCBC in preparing persuasive responses.
  2. Public Awareness:  The Jagratha IT Mission, which was started in collaboration with the Kerala Conference of Major Superiors (KCMS), has been conducting successful public awareness campaigns since 2020. Through the Jagratha IT mission, the Commission endeavors to effectively communicate the Church’s policies and stances on a wide range of issues to the general public. IT mission coordinates press releases, articles published in Jagratha magazine and other periodicals, items uploaded to social media platforms, resource teams that conduct courses across Kerala, discussion forums, etc. Website: www.kcbcjagratha.org .
  3. Organizational Activities:  The Commission employs various methods to carry out its organizational activities:
    • Diocesan Vigilance Committees: These are five-member committees established in all dioceses in Kerala to oversee and address pertinent issues.
    • The Voice of Nuns: This is a joint initiative between the Commission and the Kerala Conference of Major Superiors (KCMS) which functioning under Jagratha IT Mission with the goal of preserving the sanctity of religious life and safeguarding it from any form of attacks or challenges.

Projects Currently Being Carried Out

  1. Prabudham:  Frequently, diocesan vigilance representatives convene online to engage in discussions about current issues and present regional reports.
  2. Karuthal:  The project Karuthal aims to free children and youths from the love trap and to help them overcome drug abuse. Counseling centers, legal assistance groups, and fully-equipped rehabilitation centers are established in different regions of Kerala. Karuthal Helpline: +91 756 100 5550

കെ സി ബി സി ഐക്യ-ജാഗ്രതാ കമ്മീഷൻ

സമൂഹത്തിൽ ഐക്യവും സമാധാനവും പരിപോഷിപ്പിക്കുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെ കേരളകത്തോലിക്കാ മെത്രാൻ സമിതിക്ക് കീഴിൽ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന ഔദ്യോഗിക സംവിധാനമാണ് കെസിബിസി ഐക്യ – ജാഗ്രതാ കമ്മീഷൻ. സാമൂഹിക വിരുദ്ധ, സഭാവിരുദ്ധ ശക്തികളുടെ ഭാഗത്തുനിന്നുള്ള വ്യാജപ്രചാരണങ്ങൾക്കെതിരെ കമ്മീഷൻ സദാ ജാഗ്രത പുലർത്തുന്നു. കമ്മീഷൻ ചെയർമാൻ: ബിഷപ്പ് യൂഹാനോൻ മാർ തെയഡോഷ്യസ്, വൈസ്ചെയർമാന്മാർ: മാർ റെമിജിയോസ് ഇഞ്ചനാനിയിൽ, ബിഷപ്പ് ഡോ. അംബ്രോസ് പുത്തൻവീട്ടിൽ, സെക്രട്ടറി: ഫാ. ഡോ. മൈക്കിൾ പുളിക്കൽ സിഎംഐ. എറണാകുളം പാലാരിവട്ടത്തുള്ള പാസ്റ്ററൽ ഓറിയന്റേഷൻ സെന്ററി (പിഒസി)ലാണ് കെസിബിസി ഐക്യ – ജാഗ്രതാ കമ്മീഷന്റെ ഓഫീസ് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്.

കമ്മീഷന്റെ ത്രിതല പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ

  1. നയരൂപീകരണം:  സാമൂഹികവും സാമുദായികവും സാംസ്കാരികവും രാഷ്ട്രീയവും ബൗദ്ധികവുമായ വിവിധ വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ തയ്യാറാക്കുന്നതുവഴി കേരളകത്തോലിക്കാ മെത്രാൻ സമിതിയെ നയരൂപീകരണത്തിന് സഹായിക്കുക. ആനുകാലിക വിഷയങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള സൂക്ഷ്മ പഠനങ്ങൾ നടത്തുക വഴി വ്യക്തമായ രീതിയിൽ പ്രതികരണങ്ങൾ നടത്തുന്നതിന് കെസിബിസിയുടെ വിവിധ കമ്മീഷനുകളെയും സഭാ സംഘടനകളെയും സഹായിക്കുക.
  2. പൊതു അവബോധം:  2020 ൽ കേരളാ കോൺഫറൻസ് ഓഫ് മേജർ സുപ്പീരിയേഴ്‌സിന്റെ (കെസിഎംഎസ്) പങ്കാളിത്തത്തോടെ തുടക്കംകുറിച്ച ജാഗ്രത ഐടി മിഷൻ വഴിയായി ഫലപ്രദമായ പൊതു അവബോധ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ നടന്നുവരുന്നു. അതുവഴിയായി വിവിധ വിഷയങ്ങളിലുള്ള സഭയുടെ നിലപാടുകളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വ്യക്തത പൊതുസമൂഹത്തിന് കമ്മീഷൻ നൽകുന്നു. പത്രക്കുറിപ്പുകളും ലേഖനങ്ങളും മുഖ്യധാരാ മാധ്യമങ്ങൾ വഴിയായും “കെസിബിസി ജാഗ്രത മാഗസിൻ” വഴിയായും ഓൺലൈൻ മാധ്യമങ്ങളിലൂടെയും നവമാധ്യമങ്ങളുടെ സാധ്യതകൾ ഉപയോഗിച്ചുകൊണ്ടും ചർച്ചാവേദികൾ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചും ജനങ്ങളിലേക്കെത്തിക്കുന്നു.   3. സംഘടനകളും പ്രത്യേക സംവിധാനങ്ങളും രൂപീകരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ.
    • രൂപതാതല ജാഗ്രതാ കമ്മിറ്റികൾ: രൂപതാ, പ്രാദേശിക തലങ്ങളിൽ ഫലപ്രദമായ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തുന്നതിനായി കേരളത്തിലെ എല്ലാ കത്തോലിക്കാ രൂപതകളിലും അഞ്ചംഗ ജാഗ്രത കമ്മിറ്റികൾ നിലവിലുണ്ട്.
    • വോയ്‌സ് ഓഫ് നൺസ്: ഐക്യ ജാഗ്രത കമ്മീഷന്റെയും കെസിഎംഎസിന്റെയും മേൽനോട്ടത്തിൽ ജാഗ്രത ഐടി മിഷന് കീഴിൽ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന സന്യസ്ത സംഘടനയാണ് വോയ്‌സ് ഓഫ് നൺസ്. സന്യാസസമൂഹങ്ങളും സന്യസ്തരും നേരിടുന്ന പ്രതിസന്ധികളെ പ്രതിരോധിക്കുകയും സന്യസ്തരെ ശക്തിപ്പെടുത്തുകയുമാണ് വോയ്‌സ് ഓഫ് നൺസ് ലക്ഷ്യമാക്കുന്നത്.

  • പ്രബുദ്ധം:  രൂപത ജാഗ്രത കമ്മിറ്റികളുടെയും സംഘടനാ പ്രതിനിധികളുടെയും പങ്കാളിത്തത്തോടെ ആനുകാലിക പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള വിവിധ വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചുവരുന്ന ഓൺലൈൻ ചർച്ചാവേദി.
  • കരുതൽ:  ലഹരി, പ്രണയ കെണികളിൽ അകപ്പെടുന്ന കുട്ടികൾക്കും യുവതീ യുവാക്കൾക്കും സഹായമെത്തിക്കാനായി ആരംഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഹെൽപ്പ്ലൈൻ. കേരളത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിലായുള്ള കൗൺസിലിംഗ് സെന്ററുകൾ, നിയമസഹായ സംഘങ്ങൾ, പൂർണ്ണസജ്ജമായ പുനരധിവാസ കേന്ദ്രങ്ങൾ തുടങ്ങിയവയുടെ സഹകരണത്തോടെയാണ് ഈ ഹെൽപ്പ്ലൈൻ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത്.
